Two Vs One Self Defense case study: MMA fighter vs two “Eshays” in Brisbane
A higher quality version of the video is available on my youtube channel.
After making this video, I found a 1-hour long interview with Viktor. I definitely recommend watching this interview. He offers insights into his thinking during the confrontation, talks about his past experiences with violence and how this lead to his training and MMA career, and they broadly discuss violence what motivates young men to engage in this kid of behaviour.
Confrontation between shop owner and youth in Colombia leads to knife ambush and fatal stabbing
Gun fight in stairwell
Man draws gun on robber at close range, both grapple for control of the weapon
Holding a gun to someone at close range means things can get very complicated very quickly. Within arm’s reach usually isn’t a good range.
Victim of robbery uses concealed draw from clinch to shoot robber
Robber reaches to hold victim in an effort to control him which creates and is related to further problems:
- No reactionary gap
- Reaches with left arm, helping conceal the draw of the victim’s right arm
- Wearing a hoodie which limits peripheral vision
The victim/victor then immediately transitions to the second robber.
Police save child from woman holding knife to throat of child
Incident from Sydney, Australia.
The footage shows a 28-year-old woman holding down a 13-year-old boy, waving a knife around and yelling “I’m going to kill someone” and repeatedly declaring she is an “ice addict”.
Police officers approached the woman from the front, while one officer came in from behind her to pull her off the teen, dragging her away before three other officers hold her to the ground.
The woman can be heard screaming while the officers detain her.
The boy then escaped and was not physically injured during the incident.
Shop owner lays counter-ambush on robbers
The robbers started this with an advantage of initiative, numbers, preparation and mental preparedness. This is why the ambush is the most effective form of attack. If the shop owner were to react at this time, he would lose the majority of the time.
This shop owner feigns submission, waiting until the robbers are no longer focused on him and draws to fire when they are at their most vulnerable. This is a counter-ambush.
Mugging victim counter-draws on gun
Mugging victim feigns compliance by raising his left palm to the mugger, parries the gun away with the same hand while concealing the draw of his own gun with his right hand and shoots the mugger, all within a couple of seconds.
