Cop shoots suspect when he begins to lose fight on ground
Bystanders fail to assist while officer loses position of control.
Police officer draws gun too close, is grabbed by suspect
A police officer draws her weapon and covers the suspect within arm’s reach on a bus. A struggle for the gun ensues before a second officer assists.
- A suspect may not comply even with a gun drawn on them
- Maintaining a safe distance is necessary even if the suspect is unarmed
- Entering the bus was completely unnecessary in the first instance as it only created more risk due to the confined space
- Grappling and ground fighting skills are still required even if guns are available
Riot Police take down suspected bomber
Police struggle to arrest man using baton (pain compliance)
The police officer holding the leg of the suspect has been derided many times on the internet. And it does look somewhat comical the way he is dragged around by the suspect.
However, his actions are effective in preventing the suspect from escaping. It is the other officer who should then be taking advantage of this by clinching with the suspect to take him down. Instead, he attempts to use his baton to effect pain compliance which fails. He only continues to use the baton which makes them both look foolish.
This is yet another example of why police need at least fundamental grappling skills, and their training is often not up to the task.
Takedown set up with sucker punch, followed by strikes on ground
At attempt to intimidate the shorter male while standing within striking distance doesn’t end well.

Pre-attack cues are evident here with the white male taking a bladed stance to add power to his strike and looking away to conceal his intentions.
Small man has confrontation with smaller man, is knocked out by two much larger men
The exact circumstances of this situation are uncertain, but it appears that the white male may have had someone kind of disagreement with the very short black male. The other two much larger black males then attacked him in a fairly excessive way.
Engaging in confrontations with unknown persons always carries this kind of risk. It’s doubtful the white male would have ended up in this situation if he knew the smaller man had friends.
Quick double leg takedown to strikes on ground
Approximately 5 seconds elapsed between initiating the takedown and a knockout with strikes on the ground.
Man attempts bite on ground and is beaten unconscious for it
Gaining top position on the ground creates a significant advantage. It is very difficult to escape or retaliate from there, even with “dirty” tactics. In this instance, the person on the bottom cannot escape so attempts to bite, which only escalates the aggression of the other man who then beats him terribly.
Bystanders choose not to intervene, deciding that the beating is justified. If the man had not announced that the other had bitten him, they may have felt and acted differently. The opinion of bystanders is paramount and they need to be communicated with for this reason.
