At least one is shot, likely dead and incredible that more aren’t left in a heap on the ground. Even at very close range (i.e. within reach!), they miss due to lack of skill with their weapons. The result is a pile-up of human beings grappling for control of the guns.

Iraqi soldier is surround by ISIS. ISIS member is killed as he tries to enter door.
The person entering has to scan the entire room to find the threat, moving from light outside and having to adjust eyes to darkness inside. If he finds the threat, he is yet to aim and fire. The man inside only has to aim at the doorway and wait for movement.

Mentally ill man charges at police with knife and stabs him. Immediately following this, the officer shoots the man in the leg. The man lunges a second time and again stabs the officer.
The police officer, who was wearing an armoured vest, was fatally wounded while the mentally ill man survived.
